Five Ways to Alleviate Your Cat Dander Allergy

I read about cat dander problems all the time and it’s really sad if you love cats. If you’re one of the unfortunate pet owners who have an allergy to cat dander, then good news, you may not have to give away your feline friend.

Cat dander are microscopic pieces of cat skin shed by your pet and spread all over your home. It is sometimes wrongly diagnosed as cat dandruff. If you have an allergy, here are some ways to minimise your problem:

1) Don’t let your pet into the bedroom or onto the bed. I know this is tough especially for those who share the bed with the cat, but the close proximity of your body to the bedsheet and pillow means that you’ll be breathing in cat dander whenever you sleep. Try to train your kitty to recognise your bedroom as a no go zone and you should see immediate improvement.

Also clean your bedsheets, pillow cases and blankets with hot water as much as possible.

2) Do you have carpets in your house? You might want to give them away as cat dander stick on to them and bacteria breeds easily there. If that isn’t an option, give them a good vacuum whenever possible.

3) Do you own fabric sofas too? The cloth of the sofa act as a breeding ground for cat dander. Replace them with leather sofa sets or clean the fabric as often as possible.

4) Now you need to check your curtains. If you own the heavy fabric ones, cat dander might stick to them easily. You might want to consider curtains of another material or alternatives like blinds.

5) As cat dander spread by the air due to their small size, you have to look into cleaning the air too. It would be a good idea to purchase a good air purifier.

These five simple strategies should help you get started though by no way are they the only solutions. More cat dander information can be found at www.catdandruffaway.com

Scratching is natural for felines so you would want them to continue. What you want to do is get them to scratch where you want them to. Here are four tips on protecting your furniture .

1. Place aluminum foil on the ends of your furniture. Cats do not like to scratch on material like this .

2. Place double sided tape on your furniture . They do not like this either so the cat scratching.

3. Have a can filled with marbles available. When your cat starts to scratch where you do not want him or her to, shake the can loud. This noise will scare them away from your furniture. They will associate the loud noise with their scratching and stop. scratching .

4. Provide a scratch pad. If you provide an attraction to the pad, like a toy or some cat nip, they will use the pad instead of your furniture. Cat nip works the best as an attraction.

These are just four methods of stopping your feline friend from scratching where you do not want them to. If you are thinking of de-clawing your cat, please do not do that. That robs your cat of their natural instincts, is very terrible for them and may affect their personality.

I used all four of the methods I enrolled, and they worked effectively. Now I just have the Emery Pad which is very effective and do not have to do the first three items. The Emery Pad is an alternat to your furniture.  It allows your cat to scratch and sharpen his/her claws.
